SYNOPSIS
«Six Lugubrious Nights «
«Seis Noches Lúgubres» is a collection of six chamber micro-operas premiered at the Escuela Superior de Canto de Madrid (ESCM) on May 3 and 4, 2022. These pieces explore themes related to pain and sinister, reflecting influences from Romanticism and dark aesthetics.
Each micro-opera presents its own unique sound and style. The compositions include:
- No quiero soñar (I Don’t Want to Dream)
- Cuatro calles. Diez minutos (Four Streets. Ten Minutes)
- Tren de cercanías (Commuter Train)
- San Manuel (Saint Manuel)
- Colapso (Collapse)
- Officio Parare
This project was made possible through collaboration between various artistic and educational institutions in the Madrid region, including ESCM, the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid (RCSMM), the Royal School of Dramatic Arts of Madrid (RESAD), the María de Ávila Superior Conservatory of Dance in Madrid, and the Regional Center for Innovation and Training «Las Acacias» (CRIF Las Acacias).
The musical direction was led by José María Sánchez-Verdú, while the stage direction was overseen by Diego Carvajal.
These performances stood out for integrating different artistic disciplines, enriching and promoting opera among young talents in the region.
